DBU Falls to UTPB Despite Array of Shots

THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist University Men's Soccer team lost to UT-Permian Basin, 2-1, on Thursday night at Patriot Soccer Field. The Falcons scored two first-half goals, and held off the Patriots' comeback attempt in the second half.

Tainan Bagetti put UTPB on the board first in the seventh minute, finishing off a cross from Cesar Cid at the near post. Rafael Moreira extended the Falcons' lead to 2-0 just before halftime, when UTPB earned a penalty kick. Moreira's shot went to the center of the goal, but Sean Bouland dove left.

Ryan Anderson cut the Falcon lead in half in the 74th minute, scoring on a volley from a Jacob Garcia free kick. UTPB fended off the Patriots through the final 15 minutes, despite DBU racking up a total of 13 shots in the second half.
