The DBU Hockey team continued their undefeated streak with a sweep of the University of North Texas this past weekend with scores of 4-1 on Friday night and 11-5 on Saturday afternoon. The Patriots have outscored their opponents 51-21 on the year and are averaging 7.3 goals per game. Freshman,
Trenton Lee, was named the TCHC Player of The Week with his performance this weekend with a total of two goals, five assists and a plus nine rating.

On Friday, the Patriots started the scoring with
Spencer Ericksen netting two goals in the first period to give DBU a 2-1 lead. With neither teams scoring in the second period, DBU posted goals from the freshmen tandem of
Trenton Lee and
David Kendall to put the game out of reach in the third period. Point leaders from Friday's game consisted of
Trenton Lee (3)
Spencer Ericksen (2) and
David Kendall (2). Senior
Josh Messick made 23 saves on 24 shots on goal for the Patriots.

On Saturday, the scoring started early and did not stop. DBU put up 11 goals on UNT and netted five goals in a span of two minutes and four seconds in the third period.Â
Trenton Lee started off the scoring in the first with an unassisted goal, followed by a
Patrick Lee goal that was assisted by
Trenton Lee and
Shawn Fangman. Other scorer's on the day consisted of
Brett Stevens in the first,
Shawn Fangman in the first with
Spencer Ericksen and
David Kendall adding to their weekend goal total in the second. The barrage of goals in the third period were scored from
Elliott Usvolk with the hat trick in less than 64 seconds and additional goals from
David Kendall and
Tyler Lee.Â
Cooper Cothran was in net for the Patriots and made 25 saves on 30 shots on goal.

The Patriots go into the fall break with a record of 7-0 and 7-0 in conference play as well as 7-0 in North Division play. This is the best start in program history for DBU who looks to add to their already solid start to the 2016-2017 season. DBU will be back on the ice on October 14 and 15 where they again take on division rival TCU and look for the season sweep of the Horned Frogs.
