THE LEAD
In game 2 of the Oredigger Classic the DBU Volleyball Team faced yet another talented ranked team, No. 25 Colorado School of Mines. DBU played hard and competed in every set as they dropped a 0-3 match against CSM.
Madeline Dolberry led the team with 15 kills to go along with
Hannah Hester's team leading 19 assists.
Hannah Ballew tied CSM's Taryn Huber with a match high 13 digs.
Â
During the first set, the Mines got out to an early lead and refused to allow the Lady Patriots to catch up. They really started to pull away when they scored five straight creating a 6-12 gap. The Lady Patriots were resilient but they couldn't quite catch CSM during this set so the Mines got the 18-25 win to start the match.
Â
The second set was a nail-biter with two competitive teams going back and forth. Neither team could create much separation as this set had eight lead changes. The game was tied up 23-23 when the Mines decided to take the last two points and steal the victory from DBU.
Â
Game three was very reminiscent of the second set with both teams trading scores until the Lady Patriots hit a wall at point number fifteen. The Mines took control with six consecutive points leading to a 15-21 advantage. CSM's lead was too far of a reach as they won the match with a 20-25 win in the third set.

COACH'S QUOTE
"The girls had to face two nationally ranked teams today. I am happy with our ability to work things out as the matches progressed. And as a coach, I was able to take away a lot from those matches. Now we can learn, work to improve, and hope we see them down the road," stated Coach
Cathy Kokel.
