Men's Soccer Comes Back to Beat OCU in 2OT

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Soccer team (7-7-1, 4-6-1 Heartland Conference) used a late goal to force overtime and cme back to defeat Oklahoma Christian (3-9-2, 1-8-2) 2-1 in double overtime Thursday.

Garrett Blume gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute with a strike from 35 yards. The Patriots held Oklahoma Christian scoreless the rest of the way to give themselves a chance.

Michalin Dennie headed home a cross from Brooks Friedman with 2:19 left to play, forcing overtime. Friedman sent in the game winner from the corner of the 18 yard box with 54 seconds remaining in the second overtime period to give his team the victory.

Tyler Hofmann made six saves on seven shots.


THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
  - Ryan Anderson extended his streak of games started to 72. He has started every game of his DBU career.

 - The Patriots broke a scoreless streak that had spanned the entire month of October until Thursday.

 - DBU is one away from tying the 2015 team for the most wins in a season since men's soccer returned to campus in 2012.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
455:29 - Dennie's goal snapped a goalless streak of more than seven and a half hours of game time for the Patriots.

17 - The Eagles attempted 17 shots in the first half, and only 10 in the final 65 minutes of the game. Hofmann only had to make two saves after halftime.

5 - Friedman more than doubled his point total for the season. He now has five points after his three-point effort.
