Patriots Shut Out Oklahoma Christian 6-0 on Senior Day

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer team (11-3-2, 9-1-2 Heartland Conference) sent its seniors off in style, shutting out Oklahoma Christian (2-13, 1-11) 6-0 Saturday.

Kaci Parks opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a shot across the box from 12 yards out. Brittany Eccles notched her second two-goal game of the year with tallies in the 31st and 46th minutes. Parks and Delaney Schmidt assist Eccles' first goal, and Katelyn Havard assisted her second.

Twenty-two seconds after Eccles' second goal, Lindsey Washburn scored from roughly 40 yards out on a free kick that snuck between the crossbar and Addison Milner's outstretched fingers. Megan Mahoney took advantage of a wide-open net in the 68th minute for her first goal of the year. Havard put the cherry on top with an 83rd-minute goal assisted by Kensley Martin.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - The Patriots still have the best record in the Heartland Conference at 9-1-2, and with one win or two ties can guarantee the top seed in the Heartland Conference tournament.

 - DBU has had a player score two goals in each of its last three games. Eccles repeated the feat from last Saturday's 2-1 win at Newman, and Schmidt scored two on Thursday in her first start at forward.

 - The Patriots' six goals were the most they had scored since October 24th, 2015 in a 6-1 win over UT-Permian Basin..

HEAD COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON SENDING THE SENIORS OUT WITH A WIN
"It's a great result on Senior Day. This group of seniors has had a lot of success here at DBU. They've invested a lot of their life  into this program, so we really wanted to have an exciting result for them today. Several of them got involved in the action, so we're happy with the result."
