Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls to Texas A&M-Commerce, 2-1

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer team (7-3 -1) lost for the first time in almost a month, dropping a 2-1 decision at Texas A&M Commerce (6-2-2) Tuesday.

Brittany Eccles opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a header off a cross from Kaci Parks. The Patriots held the 1-0 lead until the 67th minute, when Jessika Coronado tied the game with a header of her own off a corner kick from Leslie Campuzano. The Lions took the lead four minutes later on a goal by Sabrina Munguia.

Hope Koym saved the first nine shots on goal she faced before allowing the tying and game-winning goals. Katelyn Havard's potential game-tying goal was saved by Caitlin Duty with seven seconds left in the game.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - The Patriots allowed more than one goal for the first time all season, ending a 10-game streak to start the season. DBU previously had never started a season with such a streak longer than four games.

 - Eccles became the sixth different Patriot to score her second goal of the season. She is now in a six-way tie for the team lead with Kaci Parks, McKenna Namken, Emmy Niece, Ericca Everson, and Jayme Woodfill.

  - The Patriots' record in away games dropped to 2-2 on the year.

COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON A DISAPPOINTING SECOND HALF
"We just didn't put two good halves of soccer together today. We had a strong first half with multiple opportunities and felt like we had the momentum, but we weren't able to maintain that in the second half. Commerce is always difficult to play against. They are very disruptive and opportunistic. When we made mistakes, they took advantage, and that changed the game."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
27 - The Patriots had not lost a game in 27 days. Their previous loss was September 6 at St. Edward's, DBU's next opponent.

370:22 - DBU's shutout streak ended at 370:22 - more than six hours of game play - on Coronado's goal.

5,405 - Leah Draper played 59 minutes Saturday, bringing her career total to 5,405. She is second all time in Patriot history behind  Rebecca Kernen, who played 5,436.

UP NEXT
The Patriots return home for a Heartland Conference match with No. 12 St. Edward's at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Patriot Soccer Field. The Hilltoppers defeated DBU 1-0 on September 6.
