Second-Half Surge Helps Patriots Outlast Cameron

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Basketball team used a 21-1 run in the second half and endured a late push from Cameron in an 85-79 victory Tuesday night at the Burg Center. The Patriots outscored the Aggies by 20 over a seven-minute, three-second stretch early in the second period, highlighted by nine from Patrick Burke.

Cameron made a 12-0 run to cut the Patriot lead to eight with 4:21 remaining, and a 13-2 run made the score 82-79 with 13 seconds remaining. Jordan Manse and Carter Brown made three free throws in the final eight seconds to put the game on ice.

Boy Van Vliet led the Patriots with a game-high 29 points. Manse tied his season-high with 16.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Van Vliet's 29 points gave him the team lead for the third straight game.
- The Patriots are 4-0 for the first time since the 2008-09 team started 8-0 on its way to an NCAA Regional Semifinal appearance.
- Although Cameron forced three tied, DBU never trailed and has not trailed at home this season.

DBU HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE TEAM'S CONTROL OF THE LANE

"We did a better job of getting the ball inside, and defensively, we did a better job of keeping them from getting penetration into the paint. We rebounded well out of the zone when we went zone. I'm really pleased with how we were able to start the half and slowly grind that lead up."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

9 - Carter Brown totaled nine points and nine assists, the most dimes dropped by a Patriot this season.
40.9 - The Patriots shot 40.9% from three-point range. Threes accounted for nearly 32% of DBU's scoring total.
5 - DBU outrebounded Cameron 31-26, equaling it highest margin of the season.
