Patriots Overcome Slow Start to Defeat Texas A&M International

THE RUNDOWN
No. 24 DBU overcame a cold-shooting first half Saturday in a 67-59 comeback win at Texas A&M International. Despite shooting 2-13 from beyond the three-point line in the first half, the Patriots made four of their final seven threes and 28 of 35 free throw attempts to pull away from the Dustdevils.

Conner Lidiak scored all 13 of his points in the game's final 12 minutes, hitting the three-pointer that gave the Patriots the lead for good with 11:10 left to play. The Patriots made 15 of 18 free throws after that point, including Chandler Jacobs' five-for-six finish.

Jacobs led the Patriots with 21 points, followed closely by 20 from Boy Van Vliet who was a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line. Zach Lord led DBU with seven rebounds.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Patriots' 67 points are the lowest single-game total of the season.
- TAMIU's 59 points are the fewest DBU has allowed this year.
- The Patriots' 10 offensive rebounds marked the third time this season DBU finished with double-digit offensive boards.

DBU HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON HIS TEAM'S TOUGHNESS
"... I thought we really battled on the glass. They are a tough, aggressive team, and we kept our poise and did a better job of moving the ball than we had the last few weeks. JT (Harris), Brayden (Harris) and Zach did a great job of rebounding in traffic, and guys stepped up and made key free throws which was the difference."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
.500 - TAMIU made 12 of 24 three-point shots, going 6-12 in each half.
15 - The Patriots' bench scored 15 points Saturday, 13 of which came from Lidiak.
28 - DBU's 28 free throws were the most they had made in a game since making 29 on January 5 against Rogers State.
