THE LEAD
The DBU Men's Basketball team lost in their opening round game at the NCCAA National Tournament, falling 87-80 to Ohio Christian on Wednesday in Winona Lake, Indiana.Â
Julian Miranda led the way for the Patriots with 17 points and was joined in double-figures by
Myles Johnson (15) and
Patrick Burke (11). Ohio Christian's Marquis Jackson led all scorers with 38 points. The loss sends DBU to the consolation bracket on Thursday.

The Patriots led by as many as eight points seven minutes into the first half, but were unable to maintain their lead, as Ohio Christian went up 23-22 on a Rijnard Hartman jumper with 5:11 left on the clock. DBU would eventually go into the half down 36-32.

In the second half, Marquis Jackson took over for Ohio Christian, scoring 23 of his 38 points over the final 20 minutes. Trailing by two points with 5:55 remaining in the game, a three-pointer by
Julian Miranda gave the Patriots a one-point advantage. Ohio Christian's Marquis Jackson would pull Ohio Christian even though on a shot from downtown.Â

Tied at 73 apiece with 4:01 left in the game, Ohio Christian pulled away when Nic Baker connected on a three-point shot. It would be a deficit that DBU could not overcome, as Ohio Christian outscored DBU 14-7 over the final four minutes.
