Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Late Second Half Surge Leads DBU Past Life Pacific

THE LEAD
The DBU Men's Basketball team overcame a two-point deficit at the half to claim an 83-72 win over Life Pacific in the consolation bracket at the NCCAA National Tournament on Thursday in Winona Lake, Indiana.  DBU was led by Myles Johnson's 17 points.  Four other Patriots scored in double-figures including Xavier Ledet (15), Carter Brown (13), JT Harris (10), and Jordan Pratt (10).  With the win, DBU will face Central Baptist on Friday.

After falling behind as many as eight points in the early part of the first half, DBU went on a 13-2 run that was capped off by a Xavier Ledet jumper to put the Patriots on top 20-19 at the 10:51 mark.  DBU would maintain that lead up until the final seconds of the half when Ramez Michael's shot with five seconds left on the clock gave Life Pacific a two-point edge going into the break.

In the second half, the Patriots played from behind up until a pair of Myles Johnson free-throws gave DBU a 69-67 advantage with 3:41 left to play.  DBU would not let their lead slip the rest of the way, as the Patriots outscored Life Pacific 14-5 the rest of the way in route to an 11-point win.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- With the win, the Patriots advance to the championship game of the consolation side of the bracket where they will face Central Baptist.
- Myles Johnson played in his 127th career game today, tying him with Jordan McGowen for the most games played in school history.
- DBU's 23rd win of the season matches their win total from last year.  DBU is now one victory away from matching the school record for wins in a season, held by the 2008-2009 team.
