THE RUNDOWN
After lightning delayed the start of the match for more than an hour and a half, the DBU Men's Soccer team (4-2-1. 1-1-1 Heartland Conference) defeated Texas - Permian Basin (2-3-1, 1-2) 3-2 Thursday night in Odessa, Texas.
Ethan Martinez scored the opening tally in the third minute on a pass around the goalie by
Garrett Morgan.
Riley Unger made it 2-0 in the 12th minute on a bouncer over the goalkeeper. A header by UTPB's Brandon Lee cut the lead in half in the 13th minute.
Morgan scored in the 46th minute with an assist from Martinez. The Falcons cut the lead back to one goal less than a minute later on a goal by Esai Martinez, but could not get the tying goal.Â
Tyler Hofmann made three of his five saves in the last 43 minutes of the game with his team up by one.
