Patriots Beat Rogers State On Niece's Header in 2OT

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer team (5-2 -1, 3-1-1 Heartland Conference)  avoided its second straight tie as a header by Emmy Niece broke a scoreless tie with Rogers State (6-2, 3-2) in the 104th minute.

Niece's goal was her second in as many games this week. Kaci Parks recorded the assist with a corner kick.

The Patriots dominated possession of the ball, recording 12 total shots on goal to the Hillcats' one. DBU outshot RSU 23-5.

Hope Koym only faced one shot on goal, but played a key role in keeping Rogers State scoreless, making plays on cross passes and loose balls.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - The Patriots still have not allowed more than one goal in any game this season. DBU has never started a season with such a streak longer than four games.

 - DBU has outscored opponents 10-2 in its last five games and has not lost during that span.

 - Rogers State has now lost two straight games after starting the year 6-0. The Hillcats' only other loss this season came to No. 6 St. Edward's on Thursday.

COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON A LONG BATTLE
"I thought we played well overall. We had a good gameplan, and we stuck with it really well. We created lots of chances. I think we're playing really good soccer. It comes down to us continuing to struggle to finish. I'm happy with the performance of the team, we've just got to find that final piece."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
12 - The Patriots' 12 shots on goal were their second most in a game this season. DBU attempted 14 shots on goal in a 4-0 win at Oklahoma Christian on September 14.

23 - DBU and RSU combined for 23 fouls, 15 by Rogers State.

5,255 - Leah Draper played 56 minutes Saturday, bringing her career total to 5,255. She is second all time in Patriot history behind  Rebecca Kernen, who played 5,436.
