The Lady Patriots (9-13) (2-3) defeated Texas A&M International (3-16) (1-4) 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-17) in straight sets Thursday in Laredo. Sophomore
Brooke Clark had 15 kills while Junior
Emma Eakin had seven of her own. Junior
Kasey Holand posted eight kills and a block on the day while Senior
Katie Nicholson recorded four blocks. Senior
Merci Perry dished out 13 assists while Junior
Strealy Sizelove added a team-high 18 of her own.
DBU and the Dustdevils traded points to four, but DBU went on a 5-0 run extending their lead to 9-5. International would battle back to tie the score 10-10, but a
Katie Nicholson kill would give the Lady Patriots momentum.
Kasey Holand would answer with a kill of her own to extend the score to 13-12 before International would take the lead 15-13. DBU would end the first set on a 3-0 run, winning 25-23.
In the second set, DBU fell behind 4-1 before surging to a 7-0 run capped off by a
Brooke Clark kill, to make the score 11-6. DBU extended their lead up 21-16, before going on a 4-2 run to end set set winning 25-18.
DBU controlled the third set throughout, never trailing throughout the set. The Lady Patriots ended the set on an attack error by the Dustdevils to end the set 25-17, to win the match.
