DBU (10-13) (3-3) continued conference play with a 3-0 win against St. Mary's (10-11) (4-2) on Saturday afternoon in San Antonio. Senior
Kasey Holand led DBU with 15.5 points on 12 kills and seven total blocks. Sophomore
Brooke Clark posted eight kills and three blocks, while Senior
Madeline Dolberry recorded 12.5 points on eight kills and eight blocks. Junior
Strealy Sizelove recorded 12 assists, good for her 10th straight double-digit assist performance.
DBU traded points with the Rattlers, knotting the match up at 7-7. The Lady Patriots went on a 5-2 run to make the score 12-9. A
Brooke Clark kill surged DBU ahead 14-13, and a trio of attack errors by the Rattlers forced their first timeout of the match. After the break, DBU handled the St. Mary's reset scoring four straight points to win the opening set, 25-18.
In the second set, St. Mary's jumped out to a 7-3 lead, but DBU would rally to cut the lead to two down 12-10. Another
Brooke Clark kill and an attack error would tie the score at 13 all. DBU led 15-14 after a
Katie Nicholson and
Madeline Dolberry block, sending the Rattlers into their first timeout of the set. As play resumed, DBU would go on 6-0 run to go ahead 25-24. The teams traded points as neither were able to separate more than one point, until two attack errors gave DBU the 28-26 set two victory.
In the third set, the Lady Patriots jumped ahead to a 4-0 lead before a St. Mary's timeout. DBU kept the pressure on St. Mary's surging ahead 15-10 from another
Brooke Clark kill. The Lady Patriots would not trail again, going onto win set three 25-16 completing the sweep.
