THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots (11-16) (4-6) defeated Newman (1-22) (1-9) 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 29-27) on Saturday at Newman. DBU would not trail again as senior Kasey Holand and sophomore Brooke Clark each had a pair kills pushing DBU to a 25-18 win in the opening set.

In the second set, DBU took control after the first point and lead until the teams met again at 6 all. Brooke Clark scored the sets final point off a kill assisted by Strealy Sizelove to give DBU the 29-25 win.

Playing to extend the match, Newman jumped out to a 6-4 lead that was quickly erased by the Lady Patriots, who went on a 4-1 run to go ahead 8-7. Newman would rally taking advantage of errors to jump ahead 13-12 midway through the set. DBU made a second run to extend their lead to 20-18 over the Jets, but Newman would go ahead 23-22 sending DBU into a timeout. Newman would commit a service error tying the set at 24 all.
