The DBU Volleyball team (8-13) fell in straight sets on the road against Lubbock Christian (12-7) Thursday evening in Lubbock at the Rip Griffin Center. Senior
Kasey Holand and Junior
Emma Eakin led the Lady Patriots with eight kills each, while senior
Madeline Dolberry added five kills and a block. Sophomore
Brooke Clark posted five kills and five digs, while
Strealy Sizelove added a team high 16 assists.
In the opening set, DBU and LCU swapped points until the Lady Chaps started to widen their lead. Back to back kills by junior Leah Roberson extended LCU's lead to 14-10. The Lady Patriots called a timeout down 19-13 to regain some life late in the first set, but LCU controlled momentum enough to carry on to take the first 25-19.

In the second set, DBU jumped out to a 2-0 lead that was erased by 2-0 run by the Lady Chaps to tie the score at four all. The Lady Patriots swapped points with LCU until the match was knotted up at 13 all, and then 15 all.
Lauren Nicks assisted
Merci Perry for her first kill of the match to put DBU up one at 16-15. After a 3-0 LCU run, DBU called their first timeout of the set down 18-16. DBU then scored consecutive points cutting LCU's lead to two, forcing the Lady Chaps into their first timeout. After the break, LCU would end the set on a 3-1 run, to take set two 25-21.
Playing to extend the match to a fourth set, DBU struggled to get going as it trailed the Lady Chaps 6-1 before a Lady Patriot timeout. After the break, LCU kept the pressure on the Lady Patriots as senior Lauren Zoller added to her kill total putting the Lady Chaps up 20-6. LCU would go on to score the remaining five points going on to win the set, 25-9, defeating DBU in straight sets.
