Playing in their second game in as many days, the DBU Basketball Team won 86-85 over Colorado Christian in their final game of the Heartland vs. RMAC Challenge. Trailing by eight points in the first half, the Patriots mounted a come-from-behind victory to even their record at 1-1.Â
Colorado Christian jumped out to an early lead, but it wouldn't last as DBU traded points with the Cougars until a 10-4 Patriot run cut the lead to two, with DBU down 23-21. The Patriots closed the half on a three-pointer by freshman
Carson Hughes to give DBU a 38-37 lead heading into the locker room on top for the first time this season.
In the second half it was
Julian Miranda who had the hot hand finishing with a team-high 20 points on 5-10 from the field. Colorado Christian fought back late to cut the lead to four with seconds remaining, but the Patriots held on despite a buzzer-beater three by the Cougars to make the score 86-85.
On the day, the Patriots had five players score in double digits, including Miranda (20)
