Box Score THE RUNDOWN
Three Patriots scored at least 21 points Saturday at St. Edward's as DBU outscored the Heartland Conference's top offense 94-88.
Boy Van Vliet scored a team-high 29 points, as
JT Harris and
Chandler Jacobs added 21 each as the Patriots (21-5, 10-4) improved their road record to 5-5.
The Hilltoppers (15-11, 5-9) packed the lane against
Patrick Burke, who scored 28 points against them on January 4th. Burke did not attempt a field goal Saturday, but finished with a game-high seven rebounds. Harris took advantage of the attention Burke received, knocking down five of eight three-point attempts.Â
The Patriots led by eight at halftime and 12 with just under 17 minutes to play, but the Hilltoppers put up a fight. Landon Goesling scored 21 of his game-high 32 points after halftime, scoring or assisting on St. Edwards' final 11 points. SEU closed the gap 88-86 with 53 seconds remaining, but Harris and Jacobs combined to make six of six free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the victory.
