Patriots Drop Road Contest at Lubbock Christian

THE RUNDOWN
No. 22 DBU fell to below .500 in road games Thursday in an 84-78 loss at Lubbock Christian. The Patriots (18-5, 8-4) trailed the entire second half after the Chaps (11-12, 7-5) took the lead with a four-point play by Isaac Asrat in the closing seconds of the first half. 

The Patriots trailed by 10 with 2:15 to play, but a 7-0 run made it a one-possession game with 47 seconds left on the clock. LCU made three of its final four free throws to seal the victory.

Marcos Schuster scored a game-high 29 points for the Chaps on 8-15 shooting and made nine of 10 free throws. Chandler Jacobs made seven of nine shots to lead DBU with 15 points. Lubbock Christian used 11 steals, eight of which came in the second half, to score 12 fast break points on the night.

 THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

- The Patriots, who are undefeated at home, fell to 4-5 in road games.
- DBU is tied with Arkansas Fort Smith for first place in the Heartland Conference.
- LCU received 16 minutes and no points from its bench.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
9 - Jacobs, Boy Van Vliet, and Patrick Burke all scored in double figures. Four other Patriots finished the game with nine points.
22 - The Chaps made 22 of their 25 free throw attempts. The Patriots were 7-12.
.533 - Lubbock Christian made eight of 15 three-pointers for a .533 percentage.
