THE LEAD
Oral Roberts came from behind late in Sunday's series finale to salvage a game at No. 25 DBU. With a strong wind blowing in from left centerfield, the Patriots (8-6) scored twice on four hits in a 4-2 loss.
ORU (8-5) took the first lead on a third-inning RBI single by Cal Hernandez off of Peyton Sherlin, making just his second career start. DBU answered quickly, scoring twice to take the lead in the bottom of the inning when Evan Sandmann doubled sharply down the right field line, driving in Tim Millard. Sandmann took third on the throw home and was awarded home when the ball bounced into the ORU dugout.
Jarod Bayless and Kragen Kechely combined to throw four and one-third innings of scoreless one-hit relief, striking out six batters and walking one. MacGregor Hines escaped trouble with the tying run in scoring position to protect the 2-1 lead in the eighth, striking out two Golden Eagles hitters.
Hines (0-1) allowed the tying run to score in the ninth when RJ Pearson collected an RBI pinch-hit single. Parker Towns came on in relief and allowed a go-ahead two-run double to Hernandez just off the outstretched glove of Millard at third.
Kyler Stout (1-0) earned the win for Oral Roberts, pitching two innings of scoreless relief and striking out all three Patriots in the ninth.

COACH DAN HEEFNER ON THE PATRIOTS' OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
"They did a really good job at the end. They have a couple of arms that have plus fastballs, and they're able to get some plus breaking balls over for strikes. On a day like today, when the wind is blowing in, every little thing matters."
