Patriot Bats Stay Hot in Weather-Interrupted Victory

THE LEAD
The offensive onslaught continued for DBU in the second game of its series with Brown, a 14-4 Patriot win. The Patriots (11-6) put up 11 runs Saturday before the game was halted due to lightning in the top of the seventh.

The game started in similar fashion to Friday night's series opener. Brown (3-7) took an early 1-0 lead in the first before Granberg delivered his first long ball of the afternoon, a two-run blast off the right field foul pole.

The Bears tied it up at 2-2 in the second on a Garrett Delano home run. Tim Millard would untie it in the third with a solo home run, his third blast of the series. Granberg's second homer, a two-run shot cleared the hjtter's backdrop to straightaway center in the fourth.

DBU put the game out of reach with a five-run fifth inning. Granberg drew a bases-loaded walk for his fifth RBI of the game. Shortly after, Matt Duce was hit by a pitch to force home a runner. Millard then doubled to left center to clear the bases.

A sixth-inning wild pitch plated Kody Funderburk for the 11th Patriot run of the game. Brown scored its fourth run on a solo homer by Louis Gaitley before lightning interrupted play.

After play resumed Sunday, Evan Sandmann deposited a ball beyond the trees behind the right field fence for a three-run homer.
