Patriots Hold On to Defeat UT Arlington, 5-3

THE RUNDDOWN
DBU earned a split of its season series with UT Arlington with a 5-3 win Tuesday night at Horner Ballpark. Jimmy Glowenke's three-run double spurred the offense, and Kragen Kechely provided four innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.

After the Patriots (28-14) left the bases loaded in the first inning, Glowenke cleared them in the second with double off the left field wall to give DBU a 3-1 lead they would never relinquish.

Kody Funderburk surrendered two runs on four hits in three innings before giving way to Kechely. Kechely scattered two hits across four innings of shutout relief, striking out five Mavericks.

Devlin Granberg drove in a run in the seventh with a bases-loaded walk to extend the Patriot lead to 4-2. Evan Sandmann's RBI single in the eighth provided another insurance run.

UTA (21-24) threatened in the ninth, as Philip Childs tripled to lead off and scored on RJ Williams' subsequent single. MacGregor Hines would regroup to strike out two of the final three batters to pick up his third save.
