THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer team opened the 2018 season with a scoreless tie in the thin Rocky Mountain air at No. 3 UC Colorado Springs on Thursday. All four shots DBU (0-0-1) attempted were on goal, but the two teams settled for a draw after 110 minutes.
DBU held off a late surge by the Mountain Lions (0-0-1), as Hope Koym made a key save in the 109th minute to help her team earn the draw.
The Patriots weathered 17 UCCS shots in all, as Koym stopped all six that made it on goal. Maggie Scales, playing every minute, led a back line that helped keep the ball out of the DBU net.

DBU HEAD COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON HER TEAM'S EFFORTÂ
"Tonight was a great start to the season for our team. It is very tough to play our opening game in Colorado at altitude, especially for 110 minutes against a top-level opponent. Our defense played exceptionally well tonight, and Hope Koym had one of her best games ever. I'm very happy with the fight we showed and the level of our conditioning. We have some things to learn and grow from, but overall a very positive result."
