Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Patriots Fall 3-1 at MSU-Denver

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2018 season Saturday at Metropolitan State University-Denver. Alondra Olmos provided the lone goal for the Patriots (0-1-1) in the 3-1 loss.

The Roadrunners (2-0-0) opened the scoring with just over seven minutes to play in the first half. Two more goals in less than 10 minutes built the MSU-Denver lead to three goals by the 58th minute. Olmos took advantage of a shot that came loose after the Roadrunner goalie deflected Melanie Castelan's shot to give DBU its only tally.

The Patriots outshot the Roadrunners 17-11 and put 10 shots on goal, a marked improvement over their four total shots Thursday at UC Colorado Springs.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
  - The Patriots fall to 1-3-2 all-time against MSU-Denver.

 - Audrey Alderink recorded her first two career shots on goal to lead DBU.

 - Preseason All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference goalie Erica Torres saved 90 percent of DBU's shots on goal.

HEAD COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON A DAY OF TOUGH BREAKS

"Today was a tough day for us. The score of the game does not accurately reflect how the majority of the game went. We had our chances to go up early and just did not capitalize on our opportunities. We made a couple of defensive errors and they took advantage and scored. We created the far better goal-scoring opportunities today, and I feel encouraged moving forward that we will start to finish those chances. I'm happy with our team's 'never-say-die' attitude. I genuinely felt like we still had a chance to come back right up to the final moments of the game. We will learn from this and be better next week."
