The Lady Patriots (3-3) fell in their second game of the Reddie-Tiger Challenge with a 3-2 loss to Ouachita Baptist on Friday afternoon inside the Duke Wells Center. Sophomore
Brooke Clark led DBU with 12 kills and 14 points. Junior
Kasey Holand posted a .450 hitting percentage with 11 kills and two aces. Junior
Strealy Sizelove dished 34 assists while senior
Merci Perry added 16 of her own. Sizelove and seniors
Lauren Nicks and
Gabby Grindele combined for 35 digs on the afternoon.
DBU and Ouachita traded points until the match was tied at 10. OBU kept the Lady Patriots at bay for the rest of the set, not letting them reclaim the lead. OBU Sophomore Paige Williams added four kills while junior Adrianna Nolly posted five of her own. DBU cut the lead to two, down 17-19, but the Tigers finished the set on a 6-2 run to win the opening set.
DBU jumped out to a quick 5-3 lead in the second set, but the Tigers would not go quietly, knotting the match up at 15 all. After a trio of OBU errors put the Lady Patriots ahead 18-15, OBU closed the lead to two, until DBU pulled away. Sophomore
Brooke Clark had back-to-back kills to close the set for the Lady Patriots, securing the 25-22 win.
In the third set, DBU fell behind early until a 19-16 deficit sparked a three point comeback that had the Lady Patriots down 20-19 going into a Tiger timeout. Out of the timeout, OBU survived after pulling away taking a 25-21 set win.
Down 2-1, DBU looked to extend the match in the fourth set. Ahead by five at 7-2, the Tigers called a timeout. After the break, DBU did not step off the gas on their 9-2 run making the score 15-4 with the help of
Katie Nicholson's three kills, forcing yet another OBU timeout. The Lady Patriots closed the match with a fourth kill by
Katie Nicholson, dominating the fourth set 25-13.
The Lady Patriots fell behind early in the winner take all set down 12-5, going into a timeout. Despite the Lady Patriots 5-3 run, it wasn't enough to take down the Tigers as they fell 15-10 in the final set.

"It was not the outcome I wanted; it's not always about wins and losses but taking care of what we need to do on the court," Kokel said. "The second match we didn't play our game, which is point by point, focus, and be the hardest working team on the court. We will be sure to make that our focus tomorrow."
