THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer team fell in a 2-1 decision to Texas A&M-Commerce on Tuesday at Patriot Soccer Field. The Patriots (0-2-1) dominated in time of possession and shot attempts, but the Lions (2-1-0) capitalized on their limited chances to spoil the DBU home opener.
TAMUC struck first after the Patriots could not handle a free kick following a stoppage for an injured Lion player. Sabrina Munguia snuck the first of her two goals on the night past the outstretched fingertips of a diving Hope Koym for the game's first tally.
Jayme Woodfill provided the equalizer in the 39th minute, as she cleverly redirected a cross from Summerlyn Heller for her first goal of the year. The Lions scored the final goal just six seconds into the second half, and the Patriots were unable to push across a tying goal, thwarted by the shot-blocking of TAMUC's back line.
THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - The Patriots have outshot opponents 37-16 in their last two games.
 - DBU falls to 3-11 all-time against the Lions.
 - Heller's assist was the first of the year for DBU.
DBU HEAD COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON HER TEAM'S EFFORTÂ
"It's been a strange last couple of games. It's not that we haven't played good soccer. We're just not executing. What I'm encouraged by is that the ingredients for a successful team are there, and we're showing well-put-together build-up. We're showing lots of opportunities to score goals. But we're breaking down defensively, and teams have executed on us."
