THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer team won its fourth straight game Thursday night by a score of 5-1 over Oklahoma Christian at Patriot Soccer Field. A season-high in goals scored propelled the Patriots (4-2-1, 3-0-0 Heartland Conference) to an undefeated start to the conference schedule.
Delaney Schmidt opened the scoring with a goal from 20 feet out less than two minutes into the game. Gabrielle Heller scored on a rebound shortly before halftime to extend the lead. Two minutes into the second half, lightning in the vicinity caused a one-hour, 24-minute delay. Katelyn Havard would put the Patriots back on the scoreboard 10 minutes after play resumed. Ericca Everson and Jayme Woodfill each added goals to bring the DBU total to five. A late goal helped OCU (0-6-0, 0-3-0) avoid the shutout with less than three minutes to play.
DBU played in the attacking end most of the game, limiting the Eagles to four shot attempts and only two on goal.
