Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Everson's Overtime Goal Gives Patriots Win Over Rogers State

THE RUNDOWN
A goal by Ericca Everson just under three minutes into overtime gave the DBU Women's Soccer team a 1-0 win at Rogers State on Saturday. The Patriots (6-2-2, 5-0-1 Heartland Conference) entered overtime down a player after a red card to Emmy Niece with two minutes to play in regulation, but a three-on-four break started by Abigail Olmos early in the first extra period ended with Everson picking up a deflected ball and finding the back of the net.

DBU kept the pressure on Rogers State (6-3-1, 3-2-1), putting five shots on goal and earning six corner kicks in regulation, but could not slip one past the Heartland Conference's stingiest defense. Hope Koym made five saves for her second straight shutout.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
  - Everson's goal was her team-leading fifth of the season.

 - Saturday's game was the third-straight regular season overtime match between DBU and RSU.

 - St. Edward's tied with Newman, meaning the Patriots and Hilltoppers are once again tied for first in the Heartland.

DBU HEAD COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON HER TEAM'S RESILIENCE

"Our team showed some impressive grit and resilience today in a very tough and physical game. It's hard to play on the road, especially after a double overtime game two days prior, but I think our physical and mental toughness pulled us through today. Very good goal from Ericca Everson to finish the game with us playing short a player. Really happy to see our team rise to the occasion."
