DBU Falls to #21 A&M-Commerce on The Road

THE RUNDOWN
DBU (9-6, 2-2) fell to Texas A&M-Commerce (10-3, 4-0) for a Tuesday night matchup on the road.

The Lions led much of the way in the first set as DBU trailed behind 8-12. The Lady Patriots were able to go for a 3-0 run with a kill via Carly Earnest to help close the gap 11-12, but the Lions were able to extend their lead 16-11 before a DBU timeout. At 20-14 the Lady Patriots came back to post three kills to close the gap to 17-21, but with a couple errors the Lions were able to keep their momentum to win the first set, 25-21. Emma Eakin led the first set with three kills with a hitting percentage of 1.000. Kasey Holand also led the set with five digs.

A couple errors got the Lady Patriots on the board in the second set, but the Lions continued to show strength with a 5-0 run to force a timeout at 8-2. The Lions remained on top allowing little room for the Lady Patriots to get on the board.  A couple errors took DBU to 7 while the Lions still led by 19. A&M Commerce kept the pressure to take the set 25-11.

The Lady Patriots came out strong in the third set to match the first four points with the Lions. With a couple kills and an error, the Lions were able to pull ahead to an 8-4 lead.  A couple errors and a kill put the Lady Patriots at 7-11, but the Lions would go for a 5-0 run to force a timeout.  After the break, a kill via Macey Winburn and Carly Earnest helped close the gap 16-9 before going on a 4-0 run to bring the game back to a five-point deficit.  Two service aces via Keely Hardin and a couple kills brought DBU to a two-point deficit at 19-17, but it wasn't enough to knock the Lions off the leaderboard as they win the set, 25-18.
