Lady Patriots Fall to UAFS in Friday Night Matchup

THE RUNDOWN
DBU (9-7, 2-3) fell to Arkansas Fort Smith (11-3, 5-0) Friday night in the Burg Center.

Things were back and forth early in the first set, as there were eight ties before either team could get 15 points on the board. The set continued to be tight through the end, with the biggest lead either team could get was two points. There were 15 ties throughout the first set with Emma Eakin on the leaderboard with five kills while Strealy Sizelove led with a 1.000 hitting percentage. UAFS took the first set, 25-23
 
DBU was able to get an early start and jump out to a 5-1 lead over the Lady Lions, forcing a UAFS timeout. The Lady Lions were able to gain some momentum to close to gap and tie the game at 11-11. Both teams stayed on top of each other to match the next four points to keep a tied game at 15-15. Fort Smith pulled ahead to a 21-19 lead, but DBU kept on their toes to tie the game again at 22-22, after a series of kills and a UAFS error. A DBU error and a final kill from the Lady Lions gave them the edge to win the second set, 25-22. After the set, Keely Hardin led the match with an impressive 19 digs.
 
It was the Lady Lions who got out to an early 4-0 start in the third set. UAFS used a 4-0 run to extend their lead to double-digits at 20-10 to force a DBU timeout. The Lady Lions kept the momentum to win the final set, 25-14.
