DBU Falls to St. Edward's

THE RUNDOWN
DBU (12-9, 4-5) fell to St. Edward's (11-6, 6-3) Friday evening in Austin. 
 
DBU started the first set on fire with a 3-0 run before the Hilltoppers could get a point on the board.  The Lady Patriots managed to get another four points led by Lexie Houston and Carly Earnest before forcing a St. Edward's timeout. After the break, the Hilltoppers seemed to find their footing with two kills and an error giving them a 3-0 run to come back 7-4. The Hilltoppers fought back to tie the set at 13-13 and maintained their momentum to win the set, 25-20. The Lady Patriots totaled 17 kills on the set.
 
It was a tight set for the first six points as each team matched the others effort.  The Hilltoppers pulled ahead to a two-point advantage, but DBU came back to tie the set again at 9-9. At 14-13, St. Edward's went for a 3-0 run to pull forward at 17-13 forcing a DBU timeout. The Hilltoppers remained on top for the remainder of the set to take the win at 25-18. Strealy Sizelove was on top of the leaderboard posting 12 digs with Alyssa Pevehouse following close behind with nine.
 
The Hilltoppers jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the third set. The Lady Patriots struggled to get points on the board as St. Edward's pulled ahead at 19-8. The Hilltoppers kept the lead to win 25-14.
