DBU Sweeps UT Tyler at Home

THE RUNDOWN
DBU swept UT Tyler inside the Burg Center Friday night.  The Lady Patriots have now won all three matches played against the team.
 
DBU found their rhythm early in the first set jumping out to an 8-4 lead over UT Tyler. UT Tyler found their footing to tie the game at 10-10 with neither team allowing more than a two-point lead. A 5-0 run helped the Lady Patriots pull ahead at 17-14, but UT Tyler came back again to tie the game at 19-19. It was a battle to the end, but the Lady Patriots got the win at 27-25.
 
The Lady Patriots got out on top early in the second set leading 12-8 backed by several errors from UT Tyler. DBU was able to extend their lead by seven before forcing a timeout at 18-11. After the break, the Lady Patriots kept the pace to take the win at 25-17.
Carly Earnest was at the top of the leaderboard after the second set with seven kills while Lexie Houston and Emma Eakin were close behind with six of their own.
 
DBU trailed at the start of the third set as UT Tyler pulled ahead to a steady lead at 8-5, but it wasn't long before the Lady Patriots found their footing to tie the game at 11-11. Neither team could get much breathing room for the next five points, but UT Tyler pulled ahead at 19-16. The Lady Patriots fought back to tie the game at 21-21 and kept the momentum to win 25-22.

"We went into that game with a plan to stay aggressive and that is what they did. Our serving at the end of the sets were key in taking them out of the system and aggressive blocking helped as well. Proud of their execution"
