DBU Outlasts Southeastern Oklahoma State, 3-2

THE RUNDOWN
DBU (11-7, 3-3) outlasts Southeastern Oklahoma State (1-14, 1-6) 3-2 in Durant, Oklahoma for a Tuesday night matchup. Emma Eakin was on top of the leaderboard with 17 kills followed by Carly Earnest, Brooke Clark, and Lexie Houston who posted 10 each.
 
The Savage Storm got off to an early 11-7 lead over the Lady Patriots forcing the first DBU timeout of the match.  After the break, a 4-0 run led by Lexie Houston and Emma Eakin helped DBU to a tied game at 11-11. The Savage Storm rallied back with a series of kills to put them back on top at 14-11. The Storm kept their momentum to the remainder of the set to win 25-19.
 
The Lady Patriots pulled ahead early in the second set leading 14-8. A couple kills and a series of errors by the Savage Storm helped DBU to a 5-0 run to keep them on top. A couple errors by the Storm and a kill via Brooke Clark helped DBU to win the third set, 25-16.
 
The Savage Storm found some energy early on in the third set to get ahead 13-5, but three kills by Emma Eakin forced the Storm into a timeout at 13-8. The Lady Patriots struggled to find their footing as the Storm pushed ahead to win the set 25-16.
 
A series of errors by the Savage Storm helped DBU to a 5-0 run at the start of the fourth set. The Storm struggled to get points on the board producing enough errors to help DBU lead 13-4. DBU pushed ahead with another 4-0 run led by Emma Eakin and Hannah Tawney to lead 18-6. A final error by the Storm helped DBU to a win at 25-15.
 
DBU jumped out early in the final set leading 8-2 after a Storm error and a couple kills via Lexie Houston and Carly Earnest. The Lady Patriots kept a five-point lead throughout the set. A series of errors and a couple kills helped DBU to a 5-0 run to win the match, 15-5.
