Patriots Surge Past Ouachita Baptist to a 3-0 Start

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Basketball team pushed past Ouachita Baptist 70-56 Thursday night in Arkadelphia, Arkansas behind a 22-8 run in the game's final minutes. DBU (3-0) continues its hot start to the 2019 campaign with their third road win in as many games.

The Patriots started slow against the Tigers, trailing by as many as eight points in the first half. DBU came to life midway through the first half behind Tylan Dean and Julian Miranda. Dean's four first half steals slowed the Tiger's offensive momentum while Miranda shot 75 percent from three to give DBU a 30-29 edge at intermission.

Jonathyn Washington hit two free throws with 8:25 seconds left in the game to give DBU a 49-48 lead. The Patriots would not relinquish the lead again as Washington, Carter Brown, and William Heather fueled the late offensive surge and lead the way to the 14-point victory.

Carter Brown lead the Patriots offensively with 16 points and 9 rebounds on 87 percent shooting from the field. Brown was joined in double figures by forwards Jonathyn Washington and William Heather who combined for 24 points. Tylan Dean fueled the defensive effort with 7 steals.
