Patriots Advance to Ninth Straight Conference Final

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer Team advanced to the championship game of the Lone Star Conference Tournament with a 2-0 win over Texas Woman's on Friday on the campus of DBU. The No. 1 seed Patriots (16-0-2) scored just nine minutes into the game and shutout No. 4 seed TWU (15-5), the conference's fifth highest-scoring offense on the night.

Abigail Olmos scored a pair of goals to lead the Patriots offensively, with the first coming in the ninth minute from the foot of Kaci Parks who was credited with the assist. Olmos weaved around a Pioneer defender in the 81st minute to notch her second of the game, sealing the 2-0 victory for the Patriots.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - DBU will make its ninth straight conference tournament championship appearance. The Patriots have not missed the final round of the conference tournament since the tournament was reinstated in 2011.
 - The Patriots earned their second win over TWU this season after defeating the Pioneers 3-0 in the regular season.
 - St. Edward's defeated Lubbock Christian 2-0 in Friday's second semifinal game, setting up a DBU-St. Edward's Lone Star Conference Tournament final for the eighth time in nine years.

COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON A GOOD START TO THE POSTSEASON
"I told the girls after the game, good teams find a way to win. Give TWU credit, they put us under a tremendous amount of pressure. They brought a lot of energy, they battled until the end, and they caused us a lot of problems. Ultimately, we stayed in the game mentally, and we executed when we had the chance. Certainly happy to get the win but we've got to learn a little bit moving forward."
