THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer Team advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament with a win over third-seeded No. 16 Colorado School of Mines in penalty kicks Saturday afternoon. The Patriots (17-0-3) withstood a prolific attack by the Orediggers (19-2-2) asÂ
Hope Koym made four saves and stopped a penalty kick. All five Patriots who attempted a penalty kick scored as
Margaret Torres sunk the game-winner past goalkeeper Sierra Roth.
Nicole LaTourette scored the first goal of the match in the 64th minute from the foot of Jordan Barnhart. The two teams battled until
Emmy Niece found the back of the net on the corner kick from
Kaci Parks in the 89th minute. The two teams couldn't settle a winner after two over-time periods, forcing penalty kicks in which DBU won, 5-4, advancing the Patriots to the third round.

COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON ADVANCING AGAINST LONG ODDS
"I really can't put into words what just happened. At the end of the day the things you can't define and the things you can't train, the things you can't put in a box is what our team did well today. We never gave up, we had a senior captain come up for a corner who was not going to be denied for the goal. That's what you have to do to win championships, and we did what it takes to win today."
