Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Patriots Stay Undefeated with Overtime Victory at Angelo State

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Basketball team defeated Angelo State 84-82 Saturday afternoon for its second consecutive overtime road victory. The Patriots (7-0, 3-0) demonstrated their resilience by topping an undefeated Rams squad just two days removed from their triple-overtime-victory over Lubbock Christian.

No. 19 DBU continues to showcase its offensive versatility with a different Patriot leading the team in scoring for the third consecutive game. The Patriots overcame a 52-36 rebounding disadvantage by limiting the Rams to 39 percent shooting from the field.

Carter Brown lead the way with a season high 19 points and seven rebounds. Connor Lidiak chipped in 16 points of his own while Tylan Dean contributed 13 points and seven rebounds in the win.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
-DBU takes the victory in the program's first ever matchup against Angelo State.
-The Patriots topped the undefeated Rams without injured senior guard Julian Miranda as well as the partial absence of Chandler Jacobs due to injury.
-Tylan Dean continues to step up for the Patriots. Dean's 13-point performance is his third consecutive game in double figures while tallying 15 rebounds in the last two games.

HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE WIN
"It's hard to win conference games. It's hard to win on the road. It's hard to win against an undefeated team. It's hard to win on Saturday after a triple-overtime, emotional game on Thursday. But these guys found a way. They showed mental toughness, grit, and resolve. On Thursday, Jules played through pain and on basically one leg, went in and won the game for us by making next level passes and hustle plays. Tonight, Chandler went down but found a way to fight through and come back for us at the end. I am so proud of these guys. They are a joy to watch and coach."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
9- The Patriots continue to improve shot blocking. DBU has recorded nine blocks in the last two games, more than the last three contests combined.
52- DBU's 52 percent shooting percentage was critical in the victory over Angelo State.
20- The Patriots have played an additional 20 minutes in a combined four overtimes since Thursday.

UP NEXT

The Patriots will return home for a 7:00 p.m. contest against Dallas Christian Tuesday night.
