THE LEAD
DBU took the lead in the top of the sixth, but a late offensive explosion by No. 12 Baylor resulted in a 10-4 loss for the Patriots in Waco. Bryce Ball's RBI double gave DBU (5-3) a 3-2 lead with three and a half innings to play, but the host Bears (8-0) scored eight times in their final three turns at bat to remain undefeated.
The Patriots jumped out to an early lead in the first inning as Blayne Jones led off with a double, and Evan Sandmann followed with a triple. Sandmann would score on an error to give Luke Trahan a 2-0 lead before even taking the mound.
Trahan held the Bears scoreless for two innings before giving way to the bullpen in an all-hands-on-deck pitching effort. Of the next seven Patriot pitchers, only Travis Stone and Peyton Sherlin would leave the game without allowing a run.

COACH DAN HEEFNER ON THE GAME'S TURNING POINT
"Obviously the base hit by [Richard] Cunningham was the turning point. He's a really good hitter, and we've got a ton of confidence in Burl Carraway, but that was a big hit, and a couple of home runs put it out of reach."
