THE LEAD
DBU was held scoreless through seven innings Sunday, but a five-run rally in the eighth led to a 6-2 win at Oral Roberts to complete the weekend sweep at JL Johnson Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Evan Sandmann's three-run home run put the Patriots (12-3) in front and proved to be the game-winning hit.
MD Johnson limited the Golden Eagles (6-6) to one run on three hits through six innings of work, striking out eight batters and walking none. He left with a no-decision, however, as the Patriot bats were limited to three hits and one walk through the first seven innings.
Luke Bandy tripled with one out in the eighth to begin the game-winning rally.
Blayne Jones followed with a walk, and Sandmann drove a 2-0 pitch over the right field fence to give DBU the lead.
Bryce Ball and
Hunter Vansau added RBI singles to pad the DBU lead.
Jackson Glenn drove in an insurance run with a ninth-inning single.Â
Jarod Bayless and
MacGregor Hines combined to hold Oral Roberts to one run on one hit through three innings of relief. Bayless earned his second win of the season.

COACH DAN HEEFNER ON THE EIGHTH-INNING RALLY
"I thought the big at-bat of the game was
Blayne Jones. Bandy hits the triple with two strikes, but Jones is down 0-2 and he draws a walk, and then you get
Evan Sandmann up. We've talked time and time again about his maturity and his approach and his confidence going up in that situation. That's a huge blow, but I was also proud of how they kept going after that."
