DBU Faces Texas A&M Commerce in NCAA DII Tournament

COUNTDOWN TO TIP-OFF
DBU will face-off with Texas A&M Commerce in the quarterfinals of the South Central Regional. DBU enters the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship as the No. 5 seed in the South Central Regional. The Patriots finished runner-up in both the Heartland Conference regular season and tournament championship to advance to their third NCAA Tournament in four years.

The Patriots journey to the conference title game began with an 85-64 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith in the quarterfinals, before defeating Oklahoma Christian 72-58. The Patriots then fell 69-59 to No. 9 St. Edward's in the championship.

DBU shot 47 percent from the field in three games at the Heartland Conference Tournament, and had two members of the team receive all-tournament team honors in Zach Lord and Chandler Jacobs.

If the Patriots defeat Texas A&M Commerce, they will face the winner of No. 8 New Mexico Highlands versus No. 1 West Texas A&M, who is 31-3 on the season.

Both regional semifinal games will be played Saturday. With a win Friday, the Patriots would play at 7:30 Saturday. The highest remaining seed will host the regional final on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
 
PATRIOT STORYLINES
- The Patriots are 10-4 away from the Burg Center, and are 10-3 in their last 13 games.

- DBU averages 82.3 points per game as a team, and outscores opponents by an average of 6.8 points per game.

- Chandler Jacobs leads the Patriots in scoring at 15.3 points per game. He has scored at least 12 points in three of his last four games.

SCOUTING TEXAS A&M COMMERCE
- The Lions finished the regular season and conference tournament with a record of 23-8 after falling to host West Texas A&M in the Lone Star Conference Championship.

- TAMUC is 3-2 in its last five games.

- Reggie Reid and Willie Rooks lead the Lions in scoring at 14.9 and 14.8 points per game, respectively.

- The Lions average 81.7 points per game and outscore opponents by 7.9 points per game.

- Rodney Brown is the Lions leader in blocks with 19 total on the season.
