DBU suffered its second loss in Heartland Conference play at home in a 102-94 loss to Newman on Saturday. The Patriots narrowed the lead to as little as six points with just under a minute to play, but free-throw efficiency by Newman helped the Jets seal the victory.
DBU lead by four with 12:51 remaining in the second half, but the Jets shot 60 percent from the field for the game, and an impressive 65.2 percent in the second half. Ben Ayre led the way for Newman with a team-high 32 points.
Chandler Jacobs led the Patriots with 20 points on six of 15 shooting, while
Jonathyn Washington added 13 points of his own.
Conner Lidiak recorded 16 points on four of six shooting from beyond the arc.
Julian Miranda added 13 points of his own with a team-high five assists.
