THE LEAD
DBU faced an early deficit for the third straight game against Illinois State but came away with an 11-4 victory Sunday at Horner Ballpark.
Bryce Ball and
Jimmy Glowenke hit back-to-back home runs to give the Patriots the lead in the third, and DBU (30-13, 8-4) led the rest of the way to improve to 7-0 on Sundays in 2019.
Illinois State (26-18, 9-3) led 3-1 heading into the bottom of the third, but a two-run homer by Ball and a solo shot by Glowenke two pitches later turned the tables in the Patriots' favor.
Luke Bandy added an RBI double to extend the lead further.
DBU put the game out of reach with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. An RBI single by
Jackson Glenn, an RBI double by
Evan Sandmann, and a two-run single by Bandy gave the Patriots some welcome insurance.
Jarod Bayless earned the win, limiting the Redbirds to one run on four hits in 3.1 innings of relief. The senior righthander struck out three batters while walking none to improve to 6-1 on the year.

I'm going to keep going back to what happened on Friday night.I think that was a huge thing for the rest of this series, how when we did get down - they scored, and we don't give up... I'm really proud of our guys and the way they're starting to compete."
