DBU fell to Evansville 8-3 Friday to open a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series at Charles H. Braun Stadium in Evansville, Indiana. The Patriots (21-8, 3-1 MVC) took a 3-0 lead before relinquishing the advantage in the seventh inning.
Luke Bandy drove in the first run of the game with a bunt single in the second inning.
Jackson Glenn launched a two-run home run in the third, his second blast of the season, to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Purple Aces (16-9, 4-0 MVC) answered with a two-run homer of their own in the bottom of the third, but remained behind until the seventh, when a two-run rally pushed them in front. Two hit batters, a walk, an error, and a wild pitch helped Evansville score four more in the bottom of the eighth on two hits.
