Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Patriots' Comeback Falls Short in 79-72 Loss to Greyhounds

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Basketball team fell to Eastern New Mexico, 79-72 in the Lone Star Conference nightcap game on Thursday. The Patriots (17-6, 11-6) simply took too long to overcome a poor offensive performance that left them staring into an 18-point halftime deficit.

DBU struggled to find an offensive rhythm, shooting under 40 percent from the field until the game's final moments while converting from three-point land at an ice-cold 25 percent clip. The Greyhounds blasted the Patriots off the boards, outrebounding DBU 50-21 en route to 14 second chance points that made all the difference when the Patriots cut the deficit to 64-62 with 4:40 remaining in the contest.

Chandler Jacobs led the Patriots offensively with a game-high 22 points on 7-11 shooting. Julian Miranda registered a season-high 17 points on 5-8 shooting from behind the arc. Jonathyn Washington rounded out double digit scoring with 12 points and a team-high five rebounds.

HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE GAME
"ENMU jumped on us to start the game, and we got in a big hole. They were the more aggressive team and they dictated the action by just flat out-toughing us. I'm proud of the fight we showed in the second half. We certainly gave ourselves a chance. We don't have time for any pity parties though, we got to turn around and get ready for the next one."
