THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Basketball team dropped its inaugural contest against West Texas A&M, 98-82 on the road Saturday afternoon. The Patriots (17-7, 11-7) drop back-to-back games for just the second time this year. DBU now sits sixth in the conference standings and one game outside of an opening round bye in the conference tournament.
Â
The Patriots struggled to keep pace against a Buff offense that drained 19 three-pointers on 65 percent shooting. DBU's 17 turnovers generated 21 points for the Buffs, keeping the Patriots in a double-digit deficit for the entire second half.
Â
Chandler Jacobs led the Patriots with 18 points and a game-high 8 rebounds. Senior guards
Carter Brown and
Julian Miranda also reached double figures, scoring 15 and 14 points respectively. In total, five Patriots scored in double figure on a collective 51 percent shooting.

HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE GAMEÂ
"It's hard to win here. WT can beat you in so many ways. We slowed down their transition, we didn't let them parade to the foul line. We actually won the rebound battle and they just beat us with their threes today… We learned some things today and now see where we need to get to. We need better ball security and need to scramble to shooters better."
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
