Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

DBU Roars Back to Life Against Hilltoppers, Defeat No. 7 St. Edward’s, 84-72

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Basketball team roared back to life for an 84-72 victory over No. 7 St. Edward's Thursday night at the Burg Center. The Patriots (18-7, 12-7) snapped a two-game skid to lead St. Edward's for the entire contest and avenge a seven-point loss to the Hilltoppers on February 1st.

DBU's defense allowed no easy points against the second ranked Hilltopper offense. The Patriots played with the urgency of a team fighting for a bye in the conference tournament, scoring 11 of their first 12 points off Hilltopper turnovers to establish a lead that would remain unchallenged for a majority of the contest. On a night where the Patriot three-point attack was nowhere to be found (4-19), DBU defenders swatted shots and cleaned the glass to deliver the Patriots a desperately needed win.

Carter Brown led the Patriots with 17 points on a red-hot 77 percent shooting. Chandler Jacobs and a resurgent Jonathyn Washington each delivered strong performances, tallying 15 and 14 points respectively. Junior guard Tylan Dean displayed his ability to finish through contact, muscling his way through Hilltoppers en route to a 10-point performance.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
-DBU's win breaks a four-game losing streak to St. Edward's, narrowing the all-time deficit to just two games (14-16).
- The Patriot bench weathered a 23-8 Hilltopper run over  the final minutes to seal the win.
-Conner Lidiak remains one three-pointer away from 200 career treys and third place in program history.

HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE WIN
"I loved our focus. I think we stayed really engaged and I am pleased with our effort and the way we channeled it against one of the best teams in the country. I thought individual efforts on the ball were phenomenal and we just had a great performance tonight."
