THE RUNDOWN

Dominic Hamel was superb in his start surrendering one hit while striking out ten hitters on 97 total pitches. Hamel took a no-hitter into the eighth inning as he surrendered just one walk to the 24 batters faced.
The Patriots (6-1) got the scoring started early in the first inning as
Jackson Glenn doubled home
Austin Bell.
Jeffrey David then grounded out to score
Jimmy Glowenke to put DBU on top 2-0.
Hamel cruised for the next seven innings allowing just one hit and one walk in spotless work before giving way to the bullpen.
UNC (6-2) threatened in the eighth, as Joey Lancelotti led off with a single before Hamel exited the game.
Ross Carver gave up a double to Mikey Madej to put two Tar Heels in scoring position with one out.
Burl Carraway came in to put out the fire as he got Patrick Alvarez to line-out to
Dan Pruitt, and then froze Dylan Harris on strikes to end the threat.
Blayne Jones belted a solo shot to extend the Patriot lead to 3-0 in the top of the ninth.
Carraway came back out in the ninth getting Aaron Sabato, Danny Serretti, and Will Stewart to strike out the side and clinch the series.

COACH DAN HEEFNER ON DOMINIC HAMEL'S EXCELLENT STARTÂ
"Dominic was unreal. The three arms we brought in with Carver and Burl there at the end. I'm proud of the guts they showed and the determination. For Dom to be able to go out there in the eighth inning, Burl threw yesterday and to go an inning and two-thirds today, he was working really hard for us and I thought it was a great team effort."
COACH DAN HEEFNER ON THE STATEMENT SERIES WIN
"Anytime you go on the road to a program like this and you're able to win the series it is a statement. I think it should give our team a ton of confidence, and I think they learned what it means to truly compete in this environment. We talked before the game today about how this is college baseball. We play a three-game series to win a Super Regional, this is it. You're playing a great program. Let's go out and do what we do best, enjoy competing."
