DBU Showcases Depth in 93-81 Comeback Win Over Eagles

THE RUNDOWN
No. 20 DBU surpassed Oklahoma Christian 93-81 at the Burg Center on Saturday. The Patriots (7-1) shook off a sluggish opening 20 minutes of basketball to shoot 57 percent from deep in the second half in a 12 point win that strengthened DBU's stranglehold over the Lone Star Conference's North Division.

A half-court buzzer-beater from freshman Ricky Lujan at intermission hinted toward the reinvigorated Patriot squad that would emerge after the break. DBU showcased the depth of its offensive firepower as five Patriots would end the game in double figures. Cameron Kahn was a lightning rod in the final 20 minutes; the freshman threw himself all over the hardwood as he took charges and fought for loose balls in a Patriot defense that suffocated the Eagles to close the game.

Chandler Jacobs led DBU in scoring; the senior attacked the basket with ease in the second half and finished the contest with a 25 point, 10 rebound double-double. Ricky Lujan and Jalen White added to the offensive onslaught with standout performances of their own. Lujan poured in 19 points on 50 percent shooting while White tied his career-high with 18 points on a game-high five three-pointers. Carson Hughes (11) and Kahn (10) also reached double figures.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

-DBU finished with a season-high five Patriots in double-figure scoring.

COACH RYAN GLENNEY ON THE WIN
"Great comeback effort by our team. Coach Talley [Head Coach of Oklahoma Christian] did a great job making adjustments from Thursday's game and his team took it to us in the first half. We showed courage in the second half.. It was great to see Jalen White get going again. Cameron Kahn and Austin Garner also made winning plays for us off the bench. Proud of our effort."
