No. 25 DBU Topples Cameron Behind Lujan's 31-Point Performance

THE RUNDOWN
No. 25 DBU improved to 3-0 on the season after an 89-74 win over the Cameron Aggies on Saturday at the Burg Center.  A season-high 31 point performance from freshman Ricky Lujan propelled the Patriots to their third straight win.  Chandler Jacobs also added 18 points on nine rebounds, while freshman Grayson Buehler recorded a season-best 16 points on 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range.

On a day in which the Patriots held the led for nearly 33 minutes of action, DBU fended off a Cameron team (0-5) in search of their first win on the season.  The Patriots saw a nine-point lead evaporate following a Jalen White dunk with 5:15 remaining in the first half, as the Aggies went on a  10-0 run to take a 37-36 advantage into the locker room.

Lujan ignited the Patriot offense out of the break, scoring DBU's first 10 points of the second half.  A fastbreak layup from Lujan gave the Patriots a 46-42 edge with 16:58 left to play.

Down three points with 12:53 left on the clock, Lujan delivered one of his seven three-pointers on the day to tie the game and Jalen White followed with a shot from beyond the arc to give the Patriots a lead that they would not relinquish.

DBU outscored the Aggies 32-20 over the final 11 minutes to secure the win.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Ricky Lujan's 31-point performance was two points shy of cracking the top 10 single-game scoring marks in school history.
- The Patriots are 3-0 for the second straight year and the third time in the last four seasons.
- DBU is a perfect 7-0 at home all-time versus Cameron.

HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE RESPONSE IN THE SECOND HALF
"In the first half, we were really careless and sloppy with the ball and we didn't have enough of an edge defensively  The guys responded though in the second half and came out with a little more toughness.  It was a great showing by the freshmen today as well.  They came in and really gave us a spark by hitting some big shots and getting some traffic rebounds."
