THE RUNDOWN
The Patriots fell to No. 3 West Texas A&M, 84-71 Friday night at the First United Bank Center. DBU and WT swapped blows with one another for most of the game before a five-minute scoring drought in the second half dried up the Patriot offense to give DBU (4-1) its first loss of the season.
The Buffs offense consistently made DBU pay for its turnovers, scoring 21 points off 18 Patriot giveaways. The DBU three-point attack, which had been working well over the first 30 minutes, sputtered in the game's closing moments as WT went on a 13-0 run to take the final lead.
Chandler Jacobs and Ricky Lujan led the way for DBU, scoring 22 and 20 points, respectively. William Heather also had a strong game; the sophomore forward bullied his way to the basket for 13 points on 6-7 shooting.

HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE GAME
"Careless turnovers were the difference today. They showed us why they are ranked so high…They came up with all the 50/50 plays and loose balls that we didn't. We don't have time to hang our heads though because we have to come right back here tomorrow."
